Pina Caruso was born in 1966 in Acerenza, from Saverio and Rosa. She was born in a family with a great tradition in the art of gelato, so much so that in 1956 maestro gelatiere Rosa opened an artisanal lab, that was a pioneer of ideas and experimentations.
Today, that same passion is proudly brought forward by Pina Caruso, who inherited that universe made of cream, milk and seasonal fruits, everything topped by continuous research of quality and technique. Once she completed her high school studies, she decided to support her mother in the lab. This is when her exciting journey in the gelato world began.
In 2013, after studying deeply the art of making gelato, she decided to start a new project, the first Caruso opening in Potenza. She started a new experience inspired by the love for her life and for her land, a journey that she called “flavours anthology”. The great success of this project brings new opening and major awards.
In June 2015 she took over the family business in the city centre and she transformed it in a new concept.
In 2019 she opened a new shop in Castelmezzano, in the heart of the Dolomiti Lucane.
In 2020 she created her shop online and in 2021 her last Caruso shop, in Maratea, received two cones on the Gambero Rosso’s Gelaterie d’Italia guide.
The year 2022 will see the realisation of a new project… that will not be her last.
